How do best-selling authors hook their readers? What they do differently…
I read a fascinating article on how to hook readers with your copy, by the Copyblogger I think every blogger and email marketer should read.
The 7 Rules are:
1. The Inciting Incident – getting the story rolling by nailing the readers curiosity and interest
2. The Rule of the First Third – eliminating the dull background in the first third of the first draft
3. Beginning with the End in Mind - hooking readers into reading the entire post or article
4. Uncover the Big Idea – get to the big idea of your post, article or email quickly
5. Embody the Big Idea – with compelling mental images and visual cues
6. Choose the perspective carefully – who can tell this story most effectively?
7. Experiment with how much to leave out – allowing readers to fill in the gaps with their own imagination is powerful.
